Trip Overview

Shivapuri Day Hiking tour is popular among the travelers who want to taste trekking in Nepal in just one day. You will hike inside the Shivapuri National Park, which is the nearest National park from Kathmandu. Situated on the north side of Kathmandu at an elevation of 2563 m, Shivapuri is the second highest hill for hiking around Kathmandu Valley. Religious/pilgrimage travelers love hiking in this area, where you can see different species of birds and animals. Shivapuri Day Hiking tour offers majestic Himalayan views including Lantang range, Rolwaling Himalaya, along with Kathmandu valley view. Furthermore, passing through the delightful terrace and green forests, you will see the lifestyle of people of a different culture.

Our day starts, driving for around 30 minutes to Muhan Pokhari from Kathmandu early in the morning. After doing some formalities at the entrance gate of Shivapuri, we enter Shivapuri inside the Shivapuri National Park. There is an army check-post located at the southern boundary of the park, which is the starting point of our hike. You walk for about one and a half hours on the rough but drivable road through pine and cherry forest until you reach Nagi Gompa. Visit the nunnery monastery in Nagi Gompa where we take some rest before continuing our journey. After the break, we follow the trail, which goes steeply uphill. Passing through the oak, rhododendron, and bamboo forest for about three hours, you reach the top of the hill, which is our destination for today. Enjoy the spectacular view of snow-capped mountains such as Langtang-Lirung, Ganesh Himal, and Dorji Lakpa. After spending some time at the top, we take a shorter route to come down. This trail takes us to Budhanilkantha, which will take around two and a half hours. Diving back to Kathmandu, we transfer you to the hotel.
