Itinerary

On your arrival at Kathmandu International Airport, our representative will welcome and transfer you to the hotel. Once the check-in procedure ends, you can either rest at the hotel or visit Adventure Victory Team's office. Later in the evening, we will hold a welcome dinner program at one of the typical Nepali restaurants.

Today, we will be visiting the four world heritage sites in Kathmandu listed by UNESCO which includes Kathmandu Durbar Square, Boudhanath, Swayambhu (Monkey Temple) and Pashupatinath. Please check your trekking gears and do all the preparations as we are heading for the trek the next day.

We take an early morning scenic flight from Kathmandu to Timblingtar. From here, a two hours drive will take us to the Rai and Newar village of Khandbari which will be the starting point of our trek. Khadbari is the administrative center of Makalu-Barun National Park and Conservation Area and before heading further, we need to register at the office of the park.

The trek starts from Khandbari and passes through picturesque villages to Mane Bhanjyang. The trail goes uphill to a minor pass at Bhotebas (1740m) from where you can enjoy the good view of Makalu. Further, we follow the trail passing through the moss-covered jungle along the ridged which leads us to Chichira. In Chichira, you can see a large camping site and a few tea houses.

We start early in the morning from Chichira to have a clear view of Makalu. The trail passés through the village of Kuwapani and crosses another minor pass at Daju La. Trekking further from the pass; we descend through the steep section of the jungle that leads to the large village of Num.

After breakfast, the trek continues as we descend towards Arun Nadi. Crossing a suspension bridge and climbing up through the dense forest, we reach our destination for today, i.e. Seduwa. We need to register again at the national park office at Seduwa to continue our trek further.

Start on an easy trail from Seduwa passing through Murmidanda where local students can be seen going to their school. Then, we ascend towards Narbugaon from where we head towards Tashigaon through hillside forest and cultivated fields. After Tashigaon, we will not find any villages on our trail, so it is better to buy essential items here.

The trek begins on the trail that goes steeply uphill through the beautiful cloud forest. Ascending further, we reach Unshisa where campsites and tea shops are opened during main trekking seasons. Leaving Unshisa behind, we continue to trek to reach our campsite at Kauma Danda.

We continue our trek on the trail crossing Kauma La Pass with breathtaking views of Chamlang, Makalu, Baruntse, Jannu, and Kanchenjunga. We climb further up and cross Tutu-La Pass before descending to Kalo Pokhari. Further ascending towards Keke La Pass, enjoy the amazing views of Chamlang range and Tibet to the north. We descend on a steep and rocky trail that takes us to our campsite of Mumbuk.

Leaving Mumbuk, the trek continues descending to Barun Nadi and then climbing up along the steep hillside which is often affected by landslides. While walking on the loose landside trail, we should be careful. A few hours of walking on the trail takes us to Nehe Kaharka where we stay for the night.

After breakfast at Nehe Kharka, we follow the loose trail and reach the grassy fields of Yangri Kharka after crossing the Barun Nadi. Trek for here passes through the forest of pine, rhododendron, and fir toward Langmale Kharka.. We follow the trail that now enters an ancient lateral moraine through which flows the Barun Nadi. An easy walk from here takes us to Shersong for our overnight stay.

The trekking trail from here turns right and goes up to more moraines. After reaching the top, we descend gradually and cross a small bridge continuing towards the stone hits of Makalu Base Camp. From the base camp, you can get the amazing mountain views.

Acclimatization is necessary for the adjustment to the higher altitude. We will explore the surroundings of the Makalu Base Camp and spend the night at the base camp before heading for the further trek to the higher altitudes.

After having breakfast, we leave Makalu Base Camp and head towards Swiss Base Camp on the trail that passes through Hillary Base Camp. Further, we walk along the trail on the south side of Barun Glacier Valley. Walking for about 5-6 hours, we reach the Swiss Base Camp for our overnight stay.

Trekking from here becomes hard as it ascends towards a steep boulder-filled gully. Walking further for a while, the trail eases somewhat and arrive at a small flat area. An hour of a trek from here takes us to Sherpani Col Base Camp where we stay in camp for the night.

Before heading further to the high altitude, we need to be sure that we are properly acclimatized. Otherwise, we will be affected mentally as well as physically. Thus, today is a rest day for acclimatizing where we explore around before crossing the challenging passes the following days.

We take an early breakfast and start our trek to cross the challenging Sherpani Col Pass. The trail passes alongside the glacier and heads towards the top of the Sherpani Col. We need to take the help of a fixed rope and hand lines while ascending. The trail descends to West Barun Glacier from the top. We cross the glacier and head towards the camping site at Baruntse Advanced Base Camp.

Today, walking on a loose rocky trail leads us to the southern end towards a rock wall the forms the pass. From the top of the West Col, we descend about 200m that brings us to Honku Basin. A vigorous downhill trek from here takes us to Amphu Labsta Base Camp.

Amphhu Labsta Pass is probably the most dangerous pass in Nepal, so we ascend with full climbing equipment. Since the trail includes icy slopes, you need to be careful while ascending and descending. Once we reach the top, we start to descend towards Chhukung through Amphu Labsta.

We follow an easy trail leaving Chhukung that passes through several icy streams and arrive at Bibre. The trek continues from here on the trail along the alpine landscape and stone-walled fields towards Dingboche. Further, we climb down on a fairly moderate trail that leads us to Tyangboche.

The trekking trail from Tyngboche is mostly downhill with some steep climbs for an hour from the bridge at Phungitenga. Following the pleasant and scenic trail through Khumjung leads us to Namche Bazaar for our overnight stay.

Today is the last day of our trek and we start to head towards Namche Bazaar passing through the village of Monjo. 5-6 hours of the trek is pleasant to expect some uphill climb. We head down to Bhote Koshi River and cross it three times. The last 45 minutes of the uphill climb takes us to Lukla where we spent our night.

We take an early morning scenic flight to Kathmandu from Lukla. Enjoy the view of mountains and landscapes during the flight. Upon arriving in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to the hotel and rest is all on your own. You can rest in the hotel or explore the city.

A representative from Adventure Victory Team will transfer you to the Kathmandu International Airport for your flight back home. Hope you have a wonderful time in Nepal and wish to see you again!
